Chhau Mask

The Chhau mask is a vibrant, handcrafted face used in the Chhau dance to portray mythological gods, demons, and heroes with dramatic expression. The masks began in the village of Charida in the Purulia district of West Bengal during the rule of King Madan Mohan Singh Deo of Baghmundi.
